Booze n' Stuff


I don't always drink beer...sometimes I'm drinking cocktails! Enjoy a selection of some of my favorite recipies I've crafted or adapted over the years.

Violet Beauregarde

  • 1 oz Plymouth Gin
  • 1 oz Platino Atlantico White Rum
  • 1/2 oz St. Germain Elderflower
  • 15-20 fresh blueberries
  • 1 fresh lime
  • Dash of habanero, serrano, or jalapeño shrub (to taste)
  • Dash of brown sugar syrup (optional)

Muddle blueberries, shake all with ice, strain & juice out into a champagne coupe. Garnish with slapped basil leaves.

Peppermint Patty

  • 1 oz Absolute Vanilla
  • 1 oz Baileys mint chocolate

Shake and strain into a martini glass. Garnish: Mint leaf, shaved peppermint chocolate.

Whiskey Sour

  • 2 oz Bulleit Burbon
  • 1 fresh egg white
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • ¼ oz lime juice
  • ¾ tbsp simple syrup

Add syrup, lemon, lime, whiskey, egg and shake a few times. Add ice, shake again. Fill an old fashioned glass with crushed ice past the top. Strain into glass.

Garnish: mint sprig, luxardo cherry

Rye Old Fashioned

  • 2 oz Redemption Rye Whiskey
  • 1 cube sugar
  • 3 dashes angostura bitters
  • 1 Luxardo cherry
  • Lemon swath

Mix sugar with a splash of water and bitters until dissolved. Add whiskey and 3 cubes of ice. Stir gently for 10 seconds. Place an oversized ice cube in an old fashioned glass. Strain slowly into glass. Swath lemon oils and zest on the rim, place swath on rim, not inside drink. Pat down cheery to remove excess syrup and place in glass.

The Friendly Mule

  • 3 oz Bundaberg Ginger Beer
  • 1 oz Bulliet Rye Whiskey
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • ½ tsp honey
  • dash of angostura bitters

Stir juice, honey, bitters and whiskey until dissolved. Strain into ice filled old fashioned glass. Top with ginger beer. Garnish: slapped thyme sprig

Irish Coffee

  • Fresh coffee
  • 1 oz Jameson Whiskey
  • 1 ¼ oz heavy whipping cream
  • ¾ tbsp sugar
  • Pinch of cinnamon

Shake cream and sugar in a small container for about 15 seconds until whipped. Don't over whip. Add whiskey to Irish coffee glass. Fill until ½ finger below the top with coffee. Pour in cream. Top with cinnamon.

Here's Johnny

  • 1 ½ oz Vodka
  • ¾ oz lime juice
  • ½ oz cucumber
  • ⅓ oz thyme syrup

Boil sugar and water to make simple syrup with thyme sprigs. Muddle cucumber until juiced. Mix and shake over ice. Garnish: Thyme sprig

Spicy Nathan

  • ½ oz Plymouth Gin
  • 1 oz Light rum (banana or clove hints a plus)
  • 1 oz lime
  • ½ oz lemon
  • ¼ oz strawberry shrub
  • ¼ oz brown sugar syrup
  • ½ oz ginger syrup
  • 2 dashes of chili tincture

Shake all with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish: lemon swath

Rum Punch

  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 1 oz Zaya 12 year Rum (or dark Jamaican rum)
  • 1 oz Appleton Estate V/X (or gold Jamaican rum)
  • 1 oz Platino Atlantico White Rum
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1 oz grenadine
  • ½ oz brown sugar syrup
  • 4 dashes of strawberry shrub
  • dash of angostura bitters
  • dash of fresh ginger

Stir and pour into a tall ice filled glass Garnish: Fresh fruit, fresh nutmeg Warning: It's a trap

Sex on the Beach

  • 1 ⅓ oz SKYY Blood Orange Vodka
  • ⅔ oz peach schnapps
  • 1 ⅓ oz Cranberry Juice
  • 1 ⅓ oz Orange juice

Shake over ice and pour into a highball glass (double recipe for highball) Garnish: Strawberry, kiwi

White Lady

  • 1 ⅓ oz Bombay Gin
  • ⅔ oz Cointreau
  • ⅓ oz Lemon juice
  • a pinch of sugar

Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish: tropical flower, or lime zest

Cosmopolitan

  • 1 oz Grey Goose Le Citron
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • ½ oz Lime juice
  • ¼ oz Cranberry juice

Rim a chilled martini glass with sugar and lemon juice. Shake gently with ice (no ice chunks) and strain into glass. Garnish: orange zest twirl floater Optional Garnish: edible Gold flakes

Banana Crush

  • 1 oz Tequila Espalon reposado
  • 1 oz Patron Citronge
  • half a lime quartered
  • 3 banana slices
  • 1 cube of sugar
  • splash of club soda

Muddle the lime, sugar, and banana. Shake together and pour with ice. Top with club soda Garnish: Lime wedge

Peach Caprioski

  • 1 oz Pomegranate Stoli
  • 1 oz Lebalon Cachaca
  • 1 oz Peach nectar
  • ½ oz Lime juice
  • 1 cube brown sugar

Muddle lime and sugar. Shake and pour with ice. Garnish: Lime wedge

We-Co

  • 2 oz Fleur de Cana (or dark rum)
  • 1 cube sugar
  • 5 dashes peach bitters

Muddle sugar and bitters. Stir in whiskey with ice. Strain into a rocks glass over ice. Garnish: Red bell pepper slice, yellow bell pepper slice, green onion.

Spicy McAwesome

  • 1 ½ oz Australian vodka
  • 1 oz cucumber
  • ½ oz lime juice
  • ¼ oz pineapple habanero shrub
  • 1 cube sugar

Muddle cucumber, sugar and shrub. Shake with ice and strain. Serve up. garnish: floated strawberry slice

Espresso Martini

  • 1 oz cold espresso
  • 1 oz Absolute Vanilla
  • 1 oz Kahlua

Shake and strain into a martini glass. Garnish: Coffee bean floaters

Mixed Berry Caipiroska

  • 1 oz 42below vodka
  • 1 oz raspberry stoli
  • 1 lime, quartered
  • 3 blackberries
  • ½ tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tbsp white sugar

Muddle lime, sugar, berries for 5 seconds. Add vodka and shake with ice. Transfer to rocks glass. Garnish: lime wedge, raspberry

Jalapeño Margarita

  • 1 oz Tequila Espalon Blanco
  • 1 oz Patron Citronge
  • ¾ oz lime juice
  • ½ tbsp sugar
  • 2 small slices of jalapeño pepper
  • splash of soda water

Muddle sugar, jalapeño until paste. Add tequila, citron, lime, shake with ice. Strain into margarita glass. Top with soda water Garnish: Red jalapeño or red chili

The Crisp

  • 1 ½ oz Tequila Espalon Reposado
  • ½ oz lime juice
  • ½ oz agave nectar
  • 2 basil leaves
  • 1 cucumber wheel
  • 1 small slice of serrano pepper

Muddle agave, basil, cucumber, serrano. Add Lime and tequila, shake with ice. Strain into martini glass. Garnish: Thin cucumber wheel floater

Garden Smash

  • 2 oz Bulliet Bourbon
  • 4 mint leaves
  • 2 basil leaves
  • 1 cucumber wheel
  • ¾ tbsp sugar
  • ½ lemon, quartered

Muddle mint, basil, cucumber, lemon, syrup, a few times just to get oils out. Transfer to old fashioned glass. Add a thin layer of ice. Add whiskey. Garnish: top with mint sprig

No-Co

  • 2 oz Bulliet Rye whiskey
  • 1 cube sugar
  • 5 dashes peach bitters

Mix sugar with a splash of water and bitters until dissolved. Add whiskey and 3 cubes of ice. Stir gently for 10 seconds. Place an oversized ice cube in an old fashioned glass. Strain slowly into glass. Garnish: Red bell pepper slice, yellow bell pepper slice, green onion.

Spicy Mangorita

  • 1 oz Tequila Espalon Reposado
  • 1 oz Patron Citronge
  • 1 oz mango puree
  • ½ tbsp sugar
  • ¼ oz pineapple habanero shrub
  • ½ lime

Shake with ice and strain into an ice filled tall glass. Garnish: cilantro

Mai Kai (Hawaiian Style Mai Tai)

  • 2 oz Pineapple juice
  • 1 oz Orange Juice
  • 1 ½ oz Platino Atlantico White Rum
  • 1 ½ oz Sailor Jerry
  • ¾ oz Cointreau
  • ¾ oz Patron Citronge
  • ¾ oz Trader Vics Orgeat Syrup
  • ½ oz Fresh lime juice
  • Dash of Malibu Coconut Rum
  • Small dash of marachino cherry juice

Shake and pour with ice. Top with Sailor Jerry. Garnish: cherry, pineapple slice, hibiscus flower Warning: It's a trap

Mai Tai Roa (Classic Mai Tai)

  • 1 oz Platino Atlantico White Rum
  • 1 oz Fleur de Cana
  • ½ oz Cointreau
  • ½ oz Orgeat
  • 1 lime juiced

Shake and strain into a glass with crushed ice. Garnish: spent lime shell, mint sprig.

Green Bean Coffee

  • 1 ½ cup fresh coffee
  • 1 ½ oz Baileys
  • ½ oz Patron XO Cafe

Stir. Drink. Also great iced.

Devin's Bloody Mary

  • 4 oz Stirrings Bloody Mary Mix
  • 2 oz Absolute Vodka, or Grey Goose, or Kettle One [Citron] few pinches of fresh cilantro
  • half a fresh lime's juice
  • ½ oz J. Wilbur Bloody Mary Seasoning
  • ¼ oz Dimitri's Chilies & Peppers Bloody Marry Seasoning
  • Dimitri's Bloody Mary Spiced Rim Salt

Shake all with ice and strain into a spice rimed glass filled with ice (fills an american pint glass). Garnish: Baby Pickle, Cocktail onion, olive, and lime wedge (or just be creative and awesome). Optional: Strain with a mesh strainer for a more smooth taste, and serve with minimal ice.

Dragon Berry Mojito

  • 2 oz Bacardi Dragon Berry
  • 4 oz soda water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ oz lime juice
  • 7 mint leaves
  • 6 raspberries

Muddle sugar, half the mint, half the raspberries until paste. Add lime juice, rum, shake with ice. Strain into tall glass. Add remaining mint and raspberries. Fill with ice. Top with soda water. Garnish: Lime wedge

Flavored Syrups

  • 2 tbsp of flavor (thyme, basil, ginger, whatever)
  • 1 cup sugar (double for a rich syrup)
  • 1 cup water
  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium sauce pan
  2. Bring to boil, stirring constantly
  3. Remove from heat when sugar is dissolved. Don't over boil or it will turn into candy.
  4. Once halfway cool, strain into a glass container using a metal mesh strainer
  5. Store refrigerated

Chili Tincture

  • handful of halved Thai Chillies with stems removed
  • 1 bottle of white rum
  1. Pack into a glass mason jar and store for 2 weeks
  2. Strain with cheesecloth into a glass container
  3. Store refrigerated

Strawberry Shrub

  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup vinegar
  1. Cut and mash strawberries with sugar.
  2. Place in fridge for a few hours until juice has separated.
  3. Strain into a glass mason jar and add vinegar into juice. Discard fruit.
  4. Place in fridge for 1 week, shaking every day, or until sugar stays dissolved.
  5. Age for another week refrigerated.

Pineapple Habanero Shrub

  • 1 cup pineapple a handful of habanero peppers
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup vinegar
  1. Cut and mash all the fruit with sugar.
  2. Place covered in fridge overnight until juice has separated.
  3. Strain into a glass mason jar and add vinegar into juice. Discard fruit.
  4. Place in fridge for 1 week, shaking every day, or until sugar stays dissolved.
  5. Age for another week refrigerated.

**Warning: Wear gloves and glasses! This is incredibly painful if it gets in the wrong places. Even the fumes from this can burn your parts! **

After this ages, spice will significantly come down, and it will be almost drinkable.
